From eating such a diet for 7 days, the participants lost a median of 1.4 kg (3 pounds) and had significant improvements in blood pressure, blood lipids, and blood sugar. The patients who were the most overweight and had the most unfavorable biomarkers at baseline had the largest favorable responses. The improvements in blood pressure and blood sugar are even more remarkable when one considers that most of the patients discontinued their antihypertensive and antihyperglycemic medication at baseline.”
