“This study is the largest to date to investigate differences in serum hormone concentrations between meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans. The significant 9% lower IGF-I concentration among vegan men compared to meat-eaters has not been reported before. IGF-I may play an important role in the aetiology of prostate cancer via its ability to interact with androgens to stimulate prostatic cell growth…”
